| Achieve a harmonizing
color palette within the master bedroom suite by selecting
bedroom and bathroom hues that coordinate
graciously with one another. Bedroom and bathroom colors
need not be the same. However, when both areas reflect an
identical intensity of color, visual harmony can be maintained.
Stick to your favorite color preferences and mimic the intensity
of color throughout the space. If your favorite colors are
purples and yellows, consider selecting soft lavendar and
pale yellow as the basis for the color scheme that reflects
a peaceful bedroom suite. Complete the palette by adding
one or two additional hues (such as a hint of green and
creamy white) to add visual interest. Separate into two
unique spaces by selecting one hue as the dominant wall
covering color within the bedroom and a distinctively different
color within the palette as the main wall covering in the
bath space. This allows both areas to portray a customized
uniqueness, yet remain visually connected through the application
of the same overall color scheme. Allow the remaining colors
in the desired palette to highlight and integrate decorative
accessories and other design elements (i.e. floor coverings
and window coverings) within the entire bedroom suite.
The
"5th wall" (in designer's terms: ceiling!)
of your master bedroom and master bathroom deserves the
same careful consideration and imagination as it's surrounding
wall covering "neighbors". Depending upon the
look you are trying to create, it will determine the character
of your ceiling space. Many homeowners enjoy lounging in
a serene, calming master suite area. If you are searching
for that perfect and peaceful space, consider applying the
same color paint to the ceiling as the wall coverings, using
two or three shades lighter in intensity. Sponged
clouds and other special effect paint techniques can
be applied to ceiling spaces or walls in order to create
wonderfully relaxing and ethereal looks.
